Pioneer Days kicks off on Sat. we will be serving root beer floats and selling badges. Volunteers are still needed for root beer floats and to be sheriffs. The TV raffle is going great. The tickets will be on sale through Pioneer days. KPIC commercials start tomorrow. They donated $3216.00 worth of air time and production. 5,000.00 inserts will be in the News Review, Canyonville Feed and Ranch donated the inserts.

SUSD had a board meeting and Sue Moran resigned. We need to fill the position. The last day to register is Sept. 7Th. They will interview at the district office no vote will be held to replace her.

If there are problem "visitors" please send them to the fireman's booth.

Jake motioned and Jim seconded to put the ad in the News Review for Pioneer days.

There has been another management change at the Leisure inn.

Tim Freeman has a 15 min. presentation about current legislation if we are interested in hearing. Schedule for a future meeting.

There will be a Intro to new businesses in the paper on the 25Th.

We are going to order a timer for the sign.

There is a Open House for all SUSD staff at Seven Feathers on the 26th. 225-230 people are expected. Teachers will have a catered lunch but other staff are going to be heading downtown to enjoy some local merchants. The local service merchants have sponsored the after meeting drinks. School starts on Aug 31st. Our Mainstreet Bridge newsletter will be doing an article on the new Superintendent and his history.

We are still looking for Pies for the Pie Auction. We also need help with breaking down the shelving after so the next scheduled performer can go on. Call Carol Malmay with questions.
We have the jail for Pioneer days and it is wonderful. Thanks go out to seven feathers for building it for us.

Jake received another power bill for the new sign. It is around 120.00. We need to talk to Erwin about a timer to cut cost.
Lions Club may help with the elect cost.

The memorabilia for Pioneer days is arriving. Hats aren't expected for another couple of days but T-shirts are here and for sale. You can purchase them at the pharmacy and at the info desk at Pioneer days. Reserved seating tickets are on sale at Ken's and raffle tickets are available almost everywhere. Nan and Judy will help sell tickets for raffle on Monday morn at the post office and Marie and Joy will sell at Rays Monday afternoon. Brian will be taking some to his church also.

The fire dept. is buying a new engine. They will be demoing a truck Tuesday afternoon at the fire hall if anyone would like to see it. They haven't had a new truck since 1980.

The Elks motorcycle run brought in about 30-35 bikes and 100 people. They provided a lot of non-perishables for our reservists families and an additional $111.00 was also raised and donated.

we will look into putting a timer on the North Welcome to Canyonville sign to save power.

Carl White can add 2 more rows allowing for 10 more signs on the business sign at Rays. Jake motioned, Javelin second to have Carl get them up and have the proceeds go to the electric bill on the sign.

Aug 26Th there is an all staff meeting welcome back for about 225 SUSD employees. It will be held at the Convention Center at Seven Feathers. Going to try and set up a discount with local food businesses to offer to employees to draw them downtown. School starts 8/31. Local service business have offered to pool and sponsor the after meeting drinks. Jake's Auto, Canyonville chiropractic, Coleman Apts, Hoff's Real Estate, Bloemendahl Tax, Hometown Ins, Promise Natural Foods and Canyonville Message Therapy.

Tamara had a call from Wildlife Safari they will be bringing an Alligator, Python and two lizards from 3-5pm on sat at Pioneer Days.There will be daily events listed on a sandwich board. There are only 2 more Pioneer Days Committee meetings. there are still selling tickets for the raffle of the TV and seats for the entertainment. An info booth will be open this year selling t-shirts and hats.

Three bills came in to pay Jake motioned, Javelin second to pay.

So far 500 lunches have been given away by the YMCA at the park. They have one more week to go. Get Fit will start up again Sept 14 and runs til Nov 20Th. The prize will be a Y membership and cost 5.00/week.
The Y will be closing the week before Labor day for Yearly maint.

Lions Club BBQ will be at the Old Tyme Family Album again this year proceeds to benefit Pioneer Days.

There is a Cycle run from the Myrtle Creek Elks lodge to Galesville Reservoir on the 9Th. Please meet or bring canned foods to donate. Baskets will be made for reservists families that have been deployed.
